I don't think that's an accurate figure even now. Android is a Linux system and it's got decent market share. A lot of people don't consider cell phones to be computers, but they most definitely are. Try to remember, Linux is just a kernel, so even though Google has rejected GNU software, it's still a Linux system, for now.

My thoughts on the matter are that we'll see an uptick, but not dramatically so. Not enough people know enough about computers to even care what OS they use, let alone what an OS is. With more education, we could increase Linux usage, but we also need to get people on it when they're young. Educate them in elementary school on what computers are, how they work, what an operating system is, and get them interested in using alternatives. People learn the quirks of Windows early so they adapt to constant BSoD's and work halting updates. If they started with Linux instead they'd hate Windows for that garbage and want to go back to the comforts of Linux. That's how we will see an appreciable increase in market share, when the users are more knowledgeable. Is that a pipe dream? Perhaps, but on occasion I can be optimistic.

@lycanthoss Yeah, only one problem when installing, then half a dozen while using it, and that's just so far. In another year probably half a dozen more problems. Meanwhile, most on Linux have zero problems.

@lycanthoss You've already mentioned multiple problems with Windows, so don't lie. As for Linux, don't use Ubuntu and don't use Nvidia, if you had used Mint instead with an AMD card or something onboard, you wouldn't have had such problems at all.

@lycanthoss That's where I think you're wrong. In a laptop you would have an onboard GPU that you could've made use of and ignore the Nvidia cancer, but as they're starting to open things up, I'd wager drivers for their hardware will be working a lot better in a year, let alone 3. If I didn't do my research on something and just used what everyone recommended, it'd be my fault if I got the wrong thing. You mentioned half a dozen things that went wrong on Windows for you and then claim it's one, okay. So you make excuses for things going wrong that are out of your control on Windows, but not for things within your control on Linux and you say Windows is better. Yes, something is definitely wrong with you and anyone that makes such excuses to continue using garbage.

MichaelDustter If your preference is water drip torture then your preference is objectively garbage. I'd assume this means you use Windows and/or an Nvidia GPU.

It makes me sad that anti-cheat working anywhere is a reason to celebrate anything. It'd be better if we just didn't have it at all. Obviously a trust based model won't work, and not all cheat prevention will work just server side, but such systems can still be bypassed locally, it just takes more work. It'd be far better for gaming though if the only cheat prevention was done on the server only, especially since it's only needed when you're on a server.

@tobilinz_ I sure hope there will be a solution. The future would be a lot better without anticheat.
