  2. That's a weird viewpoint. I think the source being available to read and understand is what makes Linux better, not the doing literally everything myself mentality that some seem to have. I've barely had to touch anything in any init system as most of the time, things just work right out of the box. If you wish to tinker, have at it, but don't think for one second that systemD takes away choice. It gives one more to those needing to choose an init system and if it just works for you, then great. If it doesn't, then you have the choice to choose another, even if the distro you've chosen uses it you can still replace it. This comes from someone on Slackware which doesn't use systemD but wouldn't care if it did.

  3.  @jasonthirded  I disagree, I think no one should support any particular init system. Instead they should target a standard of some kind and the implementers of the various init systems should too. Then it wouldn't matter which init system someone used, they'd all be interchangeable.
