  1. Will Linux survive if he dies? Of course it will. Will I want it to at that point? No. There are a myriad of reasons why, but the key takeaway is that I don't think a monolithic kernel is the way of the future, for also many reasons. It won't happen of course. I know how humanity operates and it'll stick around for decades to come, whether he lives or dies.

  2. Except that Jobs brought nothing technical to the table with Apple. He was entirely about the business side of things. Once it became a large enough company that they could keep their brainwashed users locked in and suffering from Stockholm syndrome it had enough momentum that nothing was going to make it fail. And they've proven that, as no matter how awful their decisions have been, they just can't be stopped anymore.
