My thoughts? As long as Wayland does everything good that X does and is stable and works as fast and uses an equal or lesser amount of RAM then I'll use it. As for the hatred of Red Hat, my guess would be because they make money while using OSS, regardless of the fact that they're charging for support and not the software itself, I think people confuse the issue and expect you to make no money if you use OSS. Back in the 90's I used Red Hat for a time because it was quick and easy to use. Had a great installer and the package management was awesome. The company that made the soft modem I used back then even provided an RPM for it and it worked perfectly for me. I would argue that the level of adoption we've seen with Linux is at least partially thanks to Red Hat and other companies have helped in the years since they got started possibly because of their initial work. Yeah, GNU has done a lot, but I would argue Red Hat has done more.
