As long as the project maintainers are acting in good faith, then this is a definite positive move. Most open source projects do act in good faith, at least the majority do that I've seen. But as we all know, it'll be those rare breeds that try to ruin everything by preventing CVE's from being issued for valid problems. Let's hope such people are very few and very far between.

Interesting thought, but I think in cases like that it would make more sense for the manufacturer to understand what they're using and fix it themselves. So either someone working on the software for their devices needs to become really familiar with the Linux kernel and how it works, or they should ideally write their own kernel. In truth, for most embedded devices, it makes more sense to write a completely from scratch kernel because Linux is too big for those devices. There are also options there as well since there are very tiny kernels that provide a minimum of functionality that such manufacturers can easily make use of and understand how they work. Although, for what it's worth, I'd love to see more devices using x86 processors and then they could use a project like Menuet. And there are some manufacturers that use x86 chips, generally Via chips, but I don't know of any that use Menuet.

@excidium666 I think you might be right about that. I found a channel the other day where this guy had multiple videos hating on the people behind Godot, and the engine itself.
