  2. I would hope that they'd do things in such a way as to make them as portable as possible. So some container format would seem to me to be the best option. I always vote for AppImage despite the reputation of the current project maintainer because it's the only one that always works on my system. In fact, FlatPak won't work at all for me since I don't have systemD. And yeah, I know an ordinary static build will work too, but somehow they never seem to do those builds right, at least the proprietary ones anyway.

  4.  @orbatos  Makes me wonder what support they'd need for an unchanging target since the current maintainers have basically decided to freeze the project and not let anyone else take it up.
