@lawrencedoliveiro9104 Yeah, there's loads of "gems" in their code.

@Mantikal Sort the comments by newest first, you'd be surprised how much YouTube suppresses our speech.

I'd argue since the inception of KDE that Linux has had the better desktop environment, but that might just be me.

The funny thing is that Android uses the Linux kernel. So essentially it has the most market share of any other "OS". I think if Google actually manages to finalize their plan to replace the kernel for Android that it'll kill it as a platform. At least I hope it does.

@Pumpkin-Link Me too. The last Windows I daily drove was Win98. I tried XP for a short while and went back to 98 and Slackware dual boot, then eventually just Slackware.

@yanlucasdf As far as VS goes, I don't think it would be super difficult. It's just a standard GUI text editor like any other but with debugging facilities built in. They could probably port the interface to Qt within 6 months to a year, faster if they open sourced it. The debugger would require them to learn how Linux actually works to handle that, but it's doable within a couple of years. Past that, they could just change the template generator to target Qt and set the compiler options to target gcc in the short term. The resource editor might give them a bit of trouble, but I'd wager 6 months to a year of work and they could have something that half the time works. Add it all up, no more than 4 to 5 years and they could port VS to Linux.

There were videos in 1998. They were probably about as high quality as a .gif, but they existed. I think I watched all three of them.

@brunothedev I would mostly agree with that, but they do have .msi files. Before they existed though, yeah 100%.

It's not capitalism but greed. At least we don't have complete socialism in the US, we'd be worse off than we already are. I know you won't believe it, given that you're another "capitalism bad" cultist, but we don't have capitalism anymore and haven't for decades. It brought us the highest quality of life and the great things we used to have, and now that we've transitioned to a worse system things are corroding. If we ever reach full socialism, that just might be the end of humanity.

At least one more anyway. There's enough reasons that every Linux tuber could make a completely different video.
