My thoughts, this is great and I hope it catches on. This kind of movement is a looooong time coming. I very much hope they succeed and if they need developers to help just point me in the right direction. I suspect that this is partly motivated by MS's recent moves with W11 and I hope that awful OS just dies. After all, if you're going to move to a new OS you want all your hardware to work, so if this does catch on, we may finally get the year of the Linux desktop.

Seeing how it has been used as a cudgel for corporations I'd be curious to know what would happen. On the one hand investors wouldn't want to invest in anything because they wouldn't get their money back, so no new products would be made. On the other hand, maybe the engineers, who are generally good people and just want to produce something useful, would come out and post all the documentation and improve all the pre-existing support on Linux for everything. It's possible that in the future that could lead to passionate people making Kickstarters for all of their ideas and that's how all new peripherals would be made, but things like GPU's, CPU's and RAM, unlikely. For those, who knows what would happen.

@MH_VOID I'm definitely like you. Everything done in a dark room with the curtains closed and dark mode all around.

@shanent5793 Wait, so they provide the "fix", which voids *their* warranty if applied, and you find this to not be a scumbag move?

I'm surprised if there's not already a document on how it's laid out, given how old and popular that game is. Are you using an emulator to take it apart or are you just saving a bunch and diffing?
