virtual box will work. The question is will win7 work in a right way. It's EOL product
1
and they call it democracy. Here should be a smiling Kim Jong Un
1
it's so strange when someone is so concerned about security/privacy and so naive and blindly believing in this so-called crisis The government does not deserve full trust. Needless to say that it started when the 45th president was in charge. So the person who does not trust the government can be anyone, "Trumpian" or "Bidenian"
1
you mean in this video? timestamp?
1
nice example of a survivorship bias. Let me guess, you don't even scan your computer ) You might be just happily unaware that your computer is infected It's like "I visited a clinic and they told me about my health issues. Now I don't visit them, so I'm healthy"
1
the good advice to avoid some shady web zone, and at the same time disable AV is like an advice to drive safe and stop using your seat belts, cause you are not going to crash )))
1
Pros: Debian-based native hypervisor. Runs fast and smooth. Cons: you need to have certain sysadmin skills to make it run. You cannot install it just like VirtualBox in your windows. It's quite the opposite, first install and configure Proxmox, then add your OS images
1
cr4p. yt censorship
1
i just want to say about "wlne"
1
not about 4lco|-|oi, about software emulator
1
ok google?
1
@Chris-op7yt it won't work as fast as you would like it to be. I haven't used Proxmox yet, but I trust people who say it's a good tool
1
this web site doesn't seem to make a really deep fingerprint analysis. I would recommend using browserleaks. It might be not that intuitive from beginnging, but it has a bunch of tests
1
before you do this, make sure that you learned well what is Streisand effect
1
@utube7917 how can you possibly know that? Do you have understanding that nobody will go crazy just because they have some contradictory info? The reality is that they collect your digital fingerprints, and your cookies help them to identify that it is you again. Regardless that you changed your VPN location or whatever else you tried to do
1
@utube7917 I understand clearly your message, but you just don't listen to my argue. Everything will be collected. The more fake or real information you send, the larger will be the collection. Next time you log in with another device, this information will be collected as well. Your geolocation, your OS, your browser, other fingerprints etc. You just need to understand that the real info collected in this process is not your fake photo, but rather your digital fingerprints and your cookies
1
whether using a third-party AV is a disputable question, disabling antivirus completely is not a good idea just like saying that you are not going to use seatbelts because you don''t plan to crash
1
"If you use a VPN, they cannot read anything because it is encrypted." this scheme doesn't work for any modern browser, because it has CA info. You simply won't get a secure connection establishment. Most browsers will notify you if only insecure connection is possible. It's better to block it completely, cause 99.9% web sites these days have secure connection. Secure DNS (also called encrypted DNS) is also helpful to get rid of this security breach. So for security reason VPN is an overkill in many cases. A free option of commercial VPN is usually sluggish, and doesn't have many options
1
where it doesn't work? it works perfectly
1
TOR is an open source project. Words against it look rather like an anti-TOR propaganda. Secret services might certainly make a boom out of a li ion battery like recently reported speculations (or preliminary data), but this just reveal there capability and make many countries and governments invest in their own electronics and software. The end of M$ and US monopoly might be much sooner then ) Same about Pegasus
1
this software emulated type of VM is not responsible for connection to internet. You need to configure your private/secure connection with your VPN in case you use it. Otherwise you will be seen from outside according to your ISP and router settings
1
just Comodo AV, without its Firewall, HIPS and other security pack? you miss a lot
1
Rob already talked about privacy of the phone number. You want to keep privacy, use one of your SIMs only for your own deals. Don't give your number to anyone
1
in fact, an average user will hardly notice any "spyware". It's less privacy oriented, to be more precise. A huge leap in direction of privacy if compared to windows though ) Less privacy comes with some advantage, like Ubuntu is very good for updates, security patches. It's most likely that if some vulnerability will be found, it first will be patched in Ubuntu. And finally linux is configurable. If you don't like snap , you can remove it from completely
1
@BlueFrank82 soon, but in some distros sooner than another. Everyone could decide personally what is the best for them. One of the reason for me was that Ubuntu was the only one distro for me that installed proprietary WiFi drivers. How do you think is this a good enough reason for some beginner to have a functional OS that can connect to internet?
1
@BlueFrank82 I agree that Mint is great. Which doesn't mean that Ubuntu should be removed from recommendation list
1
"Captchas are made to train AI. " Even if so, it's highly likely has a purpose to improve captchas. Captchas in fact are examples of asymmetric encryption. Machine can still solve captchas, but the amount of efforts and power spent for this task makes this cost ineffective
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 one more try ) fb is a very intrusive company. you may encounter it when you least expect ) they will get your fingerprints and cookies )
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 whenever you see suggestion from some website to log in with your fb/goole or other social network account that's it, they got you )
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 and this happens very often, they are almost everywhere. You don't like it - you have to block your access to their HQ
1
reboot restore, and any kind of sandboxing cannot undo stealing of your passwords, credit card numbers and so on. It's just a protection of your OS, like a virtualization, or a reserve copy. Good but not all the protection that you might need
1
if this is just about privacy, not about privacy+security+testing, then these days it's easier to use additionally installed librewolf/mullvad/tor, depending on the privacy level you need. In everyday life most people would be content with firefox/brave or similar browser with ad blocker + "noscript" extension
1
just don't switch off your windows defender, and it will make the job for you. Not the best way possible, but for most people that'll just be enough. You want more - look for a better HIPS (intrusion prevention) utility. Like COMODO, ZoneAlarm. And yeah. You don't need an antivirus. Cause you already have it. Called MS defender. Just better not disable it
1
I wouldn't recommend using it. You would be among 27k users (as of now), an easy target
1
yeah, many WiFi adapters have proprietary soft. You can install it separately after installing Linux, or just try some distribution that already have 3rd party proprietary soft, like Ubuntu. When you use VirtualBox or any other type 2 hosted hypervisor, you don't have to configure much, so it should work smoothly, if you already configured it in your host OS
1
this video was likely recorded some time before that happened
1
Terry, you miss one more important function of VM, that the image can not only be saved, saved incrementally etc , but also reverted to the last saved state. Good if you need to test something or use internet session without any change on your pc
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 I'm not a big fan to read a comment which looks rather like a manual. And I try to be concise, and express my opinion. If you don't like that style you don't have to read or respond my comments. Now back to topic ) You don't have to use all the hardware/software the way which they were designed. If you find some feature that suit you well then why not to use it? I see a point of using some OS in VM in "revert back" mode. Just like I described before, it's an easy way to test or use internet. It also starts quick without need to restart your PC. So if you don't have a spare computer with a separate linux installed, why not?
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 if you are such in expert in this topic, how possibly could you forgot to mention about reverting the last saved state? well you might be right that if government will get access to your pc then they might restore your data and you will be busted, but do we really discuss this, and not privacy and security? who's changing the topic then? or looking for an excuse?
1
@terrydaktyllus1320 heh you're not attentive enough ) I said about your comments which sometimes look like manuals I didn't say about manuals. I actually like reading sources, manuals, documents, manuscripts, specification etc ) You don't pretend that you write here manuals, don't you? It would be too egoistic ) You can sure give any advises that you like, but I don't have to follow them, so I will answer or won't do that according to my own desire have a good day too
1
my comments are much shorter than yours, and you still wasn't able to read them carefully enough. And you talk that other people are not attentive ) narcissism?
1
or just install a few privacy/security tools and make browsing great again )
1
@uk7769 I don't offer you to go from one proprietary cr4p to another. There are many good useful FOSS. Even for windows. So if you are not ready to admit the WORD OF LINUX, you can start doing some small good deals by moving AWAY from proprietary money-oriented software. Zucenberg will tease you, but ignore him by installing secure DNS. Get Portmaster to regain control of your words ports. Install free AD blocker to go directly to your DESTINY
1
you can never be sure that they really stick to the privacy, but at least it's much less intrusive. it's also totally fine with no-script browsing which is a good sign to me
1
independent tests demonstrated that KAV is good, but not among the very best. It even allowed to encrypt some files on the drive. Not from protected folders, but still...
1
but even a conformist should know that if you let big techs collect data about you, it can be in internet forever. You might some day regret that you let them know about you more than you want. Some days even a big company might become a corrupted monster who sells or simply doesn't care if data leaks. Imagine some bad guys got all the info about you and they can do whatever they want
1
An example of "I don't do anything bad, what could go wrong?" is a bunch of blackmail letters sent out to many people, with a content like "we know what you are doing, and even more", your real name, some photo of you (if you aren't careful enough to put them in your social networks) or your residential place from ggl map. This might look scary for unprepared person, but this is just a result of data harvesting with maybe even ZERO human involvement, made totally by AI. So better worry about privacy
1
might be, but I prefer to ban fb/meta completely. It can be done in a many ways, in router configuration, blocking by firewall, blocking by secure DNS resolver, or adding an ad/block list, or installing browser extensions
1
regardless of your point of view, Portmaster from Safing is a good firewall ) with many useful options
1
thanks. I so much agree with you. can you recommend any HIPS utility, desirably good and user-friendly
