Passive income=being a leech It's only really excusable as a way to deal with our country not providing properly for the disabled and retirees, and even then it's a moral compromise, not something to be aspired toward. A good social safety net/floor would remove even that excuse and allow us to really crack down on schemes to make wealth without work.

@theywouldnthavetocensormei9231 funny how the laws of supply and demand don't exist for people like you whenever it's inconvenient for those already holding wealth.

@elbotchk that used to exist. Comments that got downvoted enough were hidden by default unless someone clicked to show them. They removed that feature and the trolls rejoiced.

Squatting is not theft. Ownership is defined by the law. Get over it.

Silencedfixer then they are, at best, making a moral compromise because of how we don't provide sufficiently for a guaranteed retirement in this country and should be treading with great care and humility not to overstep what is absolutely needed for their own survival....and should probably will the home to whoever is paying rent for it.

Silencedfixer did I stutter? I don't know Sam's situation or how well he is navigating it morally speaking, nor would it change what I said. Everyone here knows that that fallacious comment is an admission you have no real counter argument.

Exactly

While morally excusable in a country that doesn't actually have a real retirement plan for its citizens, much of the same class dynamics and incentives exist for both, so sometimes it IS appropriate to lump them together depending on what is being said. Landlording is always a moral compromise at best.

Landlords aren't working for free. The job that's doing the work of upkeeping apartments is "property manager". Landlording is just getting paid because you already have more wealth than someone else.

@user-kx4dp1ki8p where do squatting rights let you to take over a building occupied by someone else? I'll wait.

@AlsadsajsAlsadsajs-vl7th it means exactly what it says: making money without actual, active work.
