Every thinking person involved in politics knew the Bush administration was lying because they kept changing their justification for going to war around and around between WMDs, Al-Quaida connections, and human rights justifications as soon as objections started to be raised to each. You don't, for example, need to know the status of Iraq's WMD program to know that when the UN inspectors said "give us more time" and suddenly the reason to attack became something else to know they were just looking for an excuse and when they went back to the WMD narrative several times before the UN inspectors had given a report, it should have been obvious that the excuses were all lies. Every politician and journalist that supported the war is either complicit, or far too stupid to have their job. There is no 3rd option.
