We're talking about self-identifying as the US usage of the term. It's high. It's very high.

Double irony: the term "toxic masculinity" was created by men's movements, not feminists, but today's "MRA"s have so completely abandoned actually trying to help men in favor of complaining about women that they think terminology from the original form of their own movement is misandrist propaganda and their brains shut down in anger as soon as they hear it, leaving feminists to continue making progress on men's issues without them. The feminist movement has picked up the torch they dropped in their tantrum-throwing so all encompassing that they forgot it was even theirs to begin with.

Homophobia (as it involves something going up the butt which makes a lot of guys insecure) and other elements of toxic masculinity

Hermann Hemholtz sorry to hear that (seriously, not just saying that), but I do hope you understand that we were talking about broad trends which affect men disproportionately enough to be statistically significant, not (admittedly genuinely tragic) anecdotes or condemnation of every single man. I hope you find justice and peace for what happened to you.

Question for all the MRAs in the comment section: Why did men's movements stop talking about 'toxic masculinity' (a term that came from men's movements, not feminism) leaving only feminists to discuss that serious issue impacting men while the current MRA movement just whines? Might it be that the current MRA movement is less about helping men than it is about trying to keep women down?

@captainvonkleist8323 congrats, you just redefined "bigotry" so broadly to include intolerance of Nazism so that it would include opposition to your movement. Really a great job representing your movement. I appriciate it.

@frbe0101 I notice you completely dodged my question

@captainvonkleist8323 I'm criticizing the modern incarnation of a political movement. That's not bigotry. Would you like to try again?

@seanmatthewking women regurally get at least as uncomfortable medical screenings of their sensitive parts earlier and at significantly higher rates than men. Beyond men's general relative reluctance to get medical care, yes, growing up steeped in a homophobic culture is the difference. Just look how heterosexual men will frequently see even the suggestion of a woman (consentually) doing anything to their butt in the bedroom not just as something they might personally not be into, but as a challenge to their masculine heterosexual identity or how you, yourself, phrased your incredulous comment in sexual language. That's why the gender most conditioned to "just tough it out" is most likely to avoid that particular discomfort: because it's not just about the physical discomfort. While overt homophobia definitely accounts for some of the statistics, you don't even need to personally hate gay people for the homophobia of our society to fuck with your thought processes and (especially if you're not aware of it) consequently your actions.

@Dawid XCX nope, it still means the same thing. The harm done was done by MRAs telling people that a term designed to help men and the idea that went with it were an attack on masculinity itself. You want to see who's hurting men? Look in a mirror.
