  1. Unironically, rates of psychopathy are remarkably high among CEOs (like 20-25%) and it's a fair assumption that politicians in our system are at least as bad. That's your starting point before you add in political ideologies that, among other things, dehumanize large groups of people (including poor people).

  2. It won't in our lifetime. Too much of a mess made in the last 50ish years for that to happen. Moves towards sanity would be nice, though.
