  2. Where I live in the US, a lot of the medians where you could cross a road halfway and wait at keep getting REMOVED. When you usually get around by bus and walking, it's impossible NOT to notice the pervasiveness of the institutional hostility to pedestrians around here or how insanely biased the public transit system is to favoring ONE route that runs between an upper-middle income neighborhood on one side of the city and an airport on the other (and the mild annoyance about half the drivers on that route view you with for daring to use that route for anything else). I've literally had a car stop at an intersection and then turn right into me and a friend while we were carrying a large object while I stared the passenger right in the eyes and she said NOTHING to try and stop the driver from hitting us....and then I was in the wrong because I dared to cuss at them for running into us in the middle of a wide open street in broad daylight. US car culture needs a 2x4 upside its metaphorical head.

  3. If you've never lived here, I doubt it's even possible for you to imagine the pervasiveness for the disdain for pedestrians in the US. Please try not to take what you have for granted if you live in a halfway sane country.
