Very belated, but thoughts on riding vs putting your load on the horse and walking with little weight on your person?

@kendov288 really? 1 yard=3 ft If you ever saw one of those really long rulers in school it was probably a yardstick. (Which, imo, are about the proper length for a bastard sword) I find 3ft incriments are really useful for easy estimation of distances in day-to-day life and bonus: 1 yard is roughly equal to 1 meter so as long as you've got a bit of fudge room for your measurements, you can hope right over to metric there. It's one of the most practical units to be familiar with in the imperial system.

Laws about waterways and commons (along with if the rivers were damed) varried by region and time period.

No, the fork was not invented in 13th century Italy. Cooking and serving versions were ancient, but the table fork was invented by the Eastern Roman empire (aka Byzantium) somewhere around the 4th century and was both common through the middle east and introduced to Italy by the 10th century. I don't know where she got that date since we have names and dates of people introducing the fork to central and western Europe centuries before she mentioned.

@carrieseymour5197 stigma against left-handed people varied quite a bit, I'm sure. It's important to not forget that when people say "medieval" we're talking about the spread of at least 5 centuries of cultural drift over at least a continent. Be sceptical of anyone who tries to generalize over the whole thing. Take for example laws about townsfolk owning certain types of weapons. Those ranged from bans (to try and limit the potential of revolt) to mandates (to make sure everyone could equip themselves if levies were raised) and everywhere in between.
