  1. Part of the problem is people are taught mythology in highschool economics classes and don't understand what currency even IS. Pre-monitary barter economies never existed and currency (even when it was coins of actual gold and silver) gets its exchange value by the universal demand created by the government accepting it as payment for taxes, not because of some nebulous "faith". This was inevitable when the "education" system did half the work for the con men before the marks even graduated highschool.
