  1. Yeah, time is your biggest issue, so the question is the amount of paperwork as your limiting factor. Currency trading probably doesn't count, but gold is a good you can buy. Another option would be stocks, as you could buy a lot of them very quickly. Almost all large purchases come with a lot of paperwork, so smaller purchases that take little-to-no paperwork and that you can resell later are by far the better choice.

  2. Yeah, a lot of those big purchases would take more than a day to complete the paperwork on anyway. Stocks and/or gold/other commodities could be done in an afternoon (less if you already have an account with a trading company)

  3. I'm sure you could go to a stock-trading firm and they would either take the dollars or exchange them for pounds for you
