  1. Yeah, the most valuable aspect of the resources on asteroids (beyond the scientific) is that they're resources NOT at the bottom of a large gravity well. If we squander that just so we can kick the can down the road in terms of addressing the wasteful way we do things, our behavior will be written of in future history books like that of the conquistadors when they melted down priceless artifacts to turn them into bars of gold.
