MorganWight I don't know how the guy didn't blow up in his face at the casual admissions there...I would have been yelling 2 inches from his face because trying to hold in the rage I felt at just hearing that would have meant punching the America hating POS in the face

Now we have them done by "news" corporations who rely on advertising dollars from (for example) health insurance companies for their bottom line. Bit of a perverse incentive there isn't it. Never forget these are for-profit corporations and you are not their customer.
5
@mlopez1007 I know that. I'm just wondering when my country is going to finally get the nerve up to admit it.
5
The most accurate terms would probably be "reeducation camps" and "cultural genocide"
5
More likely a proxy war as disastrous as Vietnam. The US can't successfully take Iran. It would be a futile bloodbath.
5
@cnow82 I mean, it is if you let go of the idea that the "Democrats" actually want to win.
5
As an American I can assure you that this is a good thing. You do not want people like this in your party. That's how our labor party equivalent came to turn on working people.

tweetS (plural) As I understand she made like 10 but got ratioed into oblivion and kept deleting them and trying to rephrase them in a less obviously racist way but still ended up exposing her racism in the one she kept.
5
Considering that this is a crime against humanity driven in no small part by ageism, yes, that would be warranted.
5
@memyselfandi8544 you wanna translate that for us, fascist?
5
@SadisticSenpai61 he's surely benefiting from social distancing 😆
5
I mean, he basically wants the same thing sans the antisemitism this time...
5
Yeah, I thought the War on Christmas scaremongering was helarious untill I looked into where it came from. I'd recommend you do as well. (Content warning though, antisemitism and Nazis, and no, I'm not joking or exaggurating)
5
Not a high bar there, tbh.
5
Seriously, 10 years ago this would have been an Onion article.
5
@filonin2 you think you made a good point there, but that was such a stupid missing of the point that it actually made my head hurt...
5
No disrespect to him, but it's honestly not that hard. Anyone who is both informed and has good public speaking skills should be able to school The View. They're not selected for exceptional understanding of politics. In fact, understanding politics too well would likely disqualify you in the hiring process.
5
It is legitimately stunning. The only detail he got wrong is that the US is roughly in the middle of the spectrum, but everything else is dead on and almost exactly how I would have phrased it. Give the man some applause and hope he doesn't get fired for pissing off the advertisers
5
@peggypennington3270 because like so many of those people he fits in with he belongs behind bars in the Hague awaiting trial. Same principle as just because there's a lot of litter beside a road doesn't mean any piece of it belongs there.
5
It's almost cute you think this has anything to do with rational debate. ...almost
5
@nabilmiah4428 oh yes, his supporters honestly giving a fuck about the rule of law is why Bernie lost, not the entire process being rigged from top to bottom just like it was in 2016. /s
5
The very concept of elections is to have voters choose politicians. The notion of politicians stopping any adult citizen from voting for any reason undermines the very foundations of our entire form of government. That's how you get things like the war on drugs and Jim Crow. Voting must be an inalienable right for the system to function at all. Just like gerrymandering, politicians cannot be allowed to choose voters or the whole system collapses (just with even more collateral damage when disenfranchisement is done through incarceration).
5
Have you seriously never looked at a framed painting before? They have eyes. They can SEE if there is glass there!
5
@hundejahre good man! 👍 Remember the origins of the term "sabotage" comes from a type of wooden shoe that just "accidentally" kept finding its way into the machinery of factories with poorly treated workers. Strikes are really a lot better for everyone than many other methods of resistance workers have used in the past, so employers should really be careful how much they incentivise their workers to dust off old and less legal playbooks.
5
Let's be specific; the NYT wants a policy of appeasement towards fascists.
5
Most of this isn't even stuff that has much at all to do with profit. This is about the NYT wanting a policy of appeasement towards fascists in the face of all of us knowing how well that worked out last century.
5
Seriously, if his real concern was for the instrument he would be talking about how she should be standing on foam or something in case it fell. But we all know his real problem was that SHE was playing it.
5
Did you notice his response at the beginning? All he knows is 27 years old, leaning Bernie but willing to change mind, and studying synthetic biology and Biden's response "I don't think [I can change his mind]" Can we talk about how telling that is?
5
If only. Sounds a hell of a lot like a cryptofascist to me.

Getting recognisable names on is one of the few things they can do that gets viewers to tune in without pissing off their customers (the advertisers). There's also a certain degree of buying into their own BS that inevitably happens in that kind of environment.

Crypto isn't money but a ponzi/pyramid scheme. Those that buy in only make a profit when others do after them. It only doesn't collapse because people were taught mythology instead of history economics class. Money is a quantized, transferable debt relation that gets a stable exchange value from the universal demand created by the government accepting it as payment for taxes, by which those who work outside the market economy (who make your civilization possible) get compensated for their labor. Crypto is "hey, I wasted energy and expensive and environmentally costly computer parts making the digital equivalent of mud pies. Pay me for them and you'll probably be able to sell them at a higher price to rubes that buy in after you." For further understanding of what money actually is, please see Debt: the First 5000 Years by David Graber (rip) There's even a free audiobook of it right here on YouTube.

Yeah, in that kidnapping situation, there's a good chance that shooting random paramilitary guys of unknown affiliation who wouldn't identify themselves while kidnapping someone could hold up in court as justified. I know there's at least 1 case where someone killed several cops who broke into his house in a no-knock raid and got off because he didn't know they were cops so there appears to my lay perspective that there is legal precedent for it.
4
@memyselfandi8544 you mean the term where he had unmarked cops shoving protesters into vans?
4
Maher is a tool for the DNC. His job is to dirrect the anger of the left and to define the leftmost position of the overton window so that anyone to his left can be painted as a crazy radical.
4
@UCd7T69NaOHC4C9_DpXlwJoA I kept it brief because I'm saying I made a mistake, it was all on me, and I don't see anything in your comment I disagree with or think I could substantially add to. So yeah, I wasn't going to waste your time with a longer response when I have nothing more productive to say than "I made an oops, my bad, you're right"
4
Jonathan Edward nope, I made that comment as a correction to what I (incorrectly) thought the other guy was saying. That statement of fact was correct, but my implication that the comment I was replying to was saying otherwise was all on me, and warranted an apology. As I chew on my own foot I think we're all in agreement with the idea that Pete's low poll numbers are not because of homophobia but that he's using claims that they are as a shield to make people not honestly look at why people dislike him.

Manufacturing Consent 24 hours a day.

The corporate media is financially driven to hire either people willing to distort the truth for their job or those who are too dense to realize that the metaphorical water fountain is full of koolaid. It really doesn't matter which an individual host is in the final outcome unless a given host wakes up to the BS and starts telling truth (and then only briefly before they're shown the door either out of the building or into a closet office).
4
"Gott Mit Uns" No, the Christians who proudly proclaim their fear of a supposedly all-loving god (displaying an understanding of love common to those invoved in domestic abuse and/or an understanding of their total moral bankruptcy) are on the side of this that they usually are. There is no surprise here.

"Give rich people control of how to better society. They'll do much better than what you peasants vote for. Democracy is a terrible way to run a society."

After the bill of rights, ammendments have been passed at a rate of about 1 every 13.5 years, on average. Not only is this too slow (we needed another bill of rights back in FDR's days to make up for lost ground), but we're at nearly 30 years (over 2x the average and the longest gap since the 1870-1913 gap between the 15th and 16th amendments) because, largely, of an unprecedented denial of political power to younger generations. On top of all that, the last one was pathetically weak and we live in an era of extremely rapid change compared to the rest of our country's history. We're at the point where we need at least another 10 to catch up or a complete re-drafting, but we won't be getting that any time soon so we need to fight for absolutely everything we can get. We're already in stagnation. We need to get things moving again and fast.

Cheesie Horde strictly speaking, only untrue by the technicality that terrorism is the perview of the non-state actor.
4
Richard G A-the GOP is even worse on those fronts B-establishment "Democrats" are center right The left starts about where Bernie is on the political spectrum because dispite describing himself as a "democratic socialist" he's just a left-leaning moderate.
4
Greatest generation: "didn't we storm beaches to shoot people like you?"

He's an architect of the student debt crisis and war in Iraq and to the right of Ronald Reagan on Israel.

Give them a break. Immitation is the best their dysfunctional brains can manage in creative endeavours.
4
Depends on if we're talking voters or the establishment. There are lots of voters who will vote for Bernie to defeat Trump, even if he's not their preference, but watching the talking heads is gonna get real interesting.
