Now we have them done by "news" corporations who rely on advertising dollars from (for example) health insurance companies for their bottom line. Bit of a perverse incentive there isn't it. Never forget these are for-profit corporations and you are not their customer.

Glad to have you with us on the sane side of things.

I guess too much golf-playing can make it confusing who is ahead when not on the green.

@julieannmyers8714 nailed it! Even possibly without dirrect cooperation they all can get on the same page too just by trial and error.

@paulp5219 didn't work durring the middle ages and we're talking about the people who don't care about climate change so appealing to sympathy for younger people may not be a good plan.

@echomoon3381 why would they need to be military? Doesn't it seem kinda pointless to put them through expensive training they're never going to use. Just institute a jobs guarantee and use that labor to rebuild and retool our infrastructure for a green 21st century economy. #Bernie2020

@echomoon3381 it does not follow from "a national guard is useful" to "we need infrastructure workers to be military-trained" That's inefficient and any war of that scale would be fought with nukes and a large military trained population may be seen as a wasted resource by warmongers (increasing imprealism) And we don't need more people conditioned even further to obedience toward the state (a small change to the training and a massive increase in the number of people going through it could easily tip things toward totalitarianism)

@echomoon3381 it is the very definition to expend resources (such ad on expensive military training) on something that gets no use (such as, say, military training on someone installing solar pannels), and yes, I brought up that warmongers are more likely and able to start wars when they have a larger military on hand. History shows this. I never said it was something you said or that warmongers would cease to exist otherwise. Please work on your readinh comprehension so you don't strawman me. Thanks.

@Yanaschaf almost like having megacorps who's customers are the other megacorps (like, say, health insurance companies) who buy advertising time presents a conflict of interest that means large corporate "news" networks are actually unable to inform the public due to perverse incentives huh? (Look up "Manufacturing Consent" for more)
