What's the difference between a news station which hires hosts who knowingly tow the corporate line, and one which hires people too out of touch to realize they are and firing them when they get a clue? Effectively nothing.

Agreed, afterall, what's the difference between a news station which hires hosts who knowingly tow the corporate line, and one which hires people too out of touch to realize they are and firing them when they get a clue? Effectively nothing.

My point (largely in agreement with yours) is simply that whether the talking heads have genuinely drunk the koolaid or not is irrelevant when the network as a whole displays dishonest intent. If I had half the budget they do, I could pick any nonsense position (upto and including flat earth bs) and find a bunch of people who believed it and pay for coaching enough to make them presentable, and another bunch of charismatic charlatans willing to argue any position if I paid them enough. Not only would it be nearly impossible to tell the difference, but it would be pointless as the starting point of me wanting talking heads spewing my brand of BS and the ending point of me getting that would be identical. Thus, any attempt to claim any of these people are "honest but in a bubble" should be shut down instantly with "it's irrelevant because their bosses aren't and even if it was true, they didn't end up in that position because they would speak the truth"
