  19. Respectfully, people need to stop saying things aren't politics. The choice between democratic government and fascist dictatorship, is political. As is the choice to listen to a reality TV hoast over scientists, the choice of how we structure our medical system to center profit over people, the choice of what to do with our military and police, the choice of how much assistance to give to people in the pandemic, the choice to protect marginalized people from discrimination that may lead to their death by suicide or some other cause, etc. Politics is about power and choosing what to do with large amounts of it is normally a life and death decision for enough people that we use statistics to talk about the relative harm done. Treating politcs like a game with low stakes that all oppinions are valid in is a large part of how we got here.
