The unfortunate thing is actually that people have been tricked into treading politics like a team sport. Politics is about power: it's relationship between people, forms, structures, the ends it's put to, etc. It is everywhere and usually life and death for someone somewhere. The institutional authority to decide how our energy system is structured: power Where trust is placed for expertise we need to trust (ex: the scientific consensus vs politicians and lobbyists): power How we weigh the comfort of current generations vs the future of younger ones: power All of it politics, and all of it of grave importance. The problem isn't that it's political, the problem is that there's a partisan divide where there is because some positions being taken today are just straight-up evil. There's a reasonable debate to be had in renewables vs nuclear. There is not reasonable discussion to be had if there's even downplaying the severity of the importance of combating climate change and the need to get off fossile fuels.

@garrettb845 fair enough. I read the subjective term "petty" in a different way than you meant it, as I've seen that used in a variety of ways (leading to my, personally, using "partisan" to avoid the ambiguity), but if all I did was elaborate your point in different words, I'm 110% fine with that.
