Problem is that's why they want it in the first place. Imagine what having a massive database full of blackmail on nearly every citizen can be used for. And sadly, that's not speculation. It's been shown that at least the US government has deliberately archived extremely private data with no possible criminal relevance. (such as nude pictures&video) So, basically, the NSA shredded your rights and used your tax dollars to create what has to be the largest database of illegal amateur porn and blackmail that has ever been created.
