I agree. Historically speaking, the first thing tankies tend to do after they seize power is kill leftists. In online discourse they're also the only group that fantasizes about killing leftists anywhere near as much as fascists. They also, in implimenting a centrally-planned economy in a totalitarian state, work against worker control of the means of production (which is in no small part why socialist George Orwell said that the USSR wasn't socialist). Let them have power and they tend to target minority groups for oppression and even genocide. Watch them get heated, either in a debate or in attacking a minority group they don't like, and they'll start to sound a lot like Nazbols or even Strasserites. Frankly all that is even just a fraction of why I don't think anyone should consider tankies actual leftists and why every leftist should always remember what happens to us when these so-called "comrades" end up with power.

There appears to me (and I could be way off here, so feel free to say so if you think so) to be a political divide between the older and younger Gen-Xers created by, if I may speak metaphorically and speak in generalities, the older ones catching a ride on the ladder to success the boomers pulled up behind them and being more able to culturally fit in with and pass as younger boomers. Meanwhile, the younger Gen-Xers, while not as hard hit as millenials, tended to be hit by boomers attacks on things like education, unions, etc and subject to the condescending ageism pervasive through the boomer generation, and so, while not that culturally seperated from older Gen-Xers, tended to be significantly seperated from boomers.

@TheGreatAtario beyond a certain population density, every single person who chooses a car for their mode of transit slows the entire system down. It's a prisoner's dilemma, where every person making the choice to have the shortest travel time of their available options means everyone has a longer travel time than if everyone had taken a bus. There are only 3 real solutions to traffic in a population dense area: 1-shorten the distance of average vehicle trips with better neighborhood design 2-reduce the number of vehicle trips (via increased walkability) 3-increase the number of people per vehicle That's really the end of the list unless you like sitting in something like LA traffic. You can't personal choice your way out of a prisoner's dilemma. Finding a way to cooperate (be that softer incentives for public transit or outright banning personal vehicle through traffic in certain key areas) is the only way you solve a prisoner's dilemma.

@joearnold6881 I think you've grossly misinterpreted what I meant. By "great for noise pollution" I meant basically the quietest transportation option around (other than thinks like foot and bike) and was contrasting that with the noise that is a major downside to trains (although one of the very few downsides to trains). By "mixed" I was referring to a public transit system using both bus and rail. I don't disagree with anything in your reply.

@sjbrooksy45 more like actively dismantling all the work that the previous generations did one after the other to insure they had a better future than they did. Or in more poetic language: It is said that societies flurish when old men plant trees they will never sit in the shade of. The Boomer generation, after a long, unbroken chain of paying that forward putting (as a generation, if not individuals) in the most privileged/prosperous position in history decided that, instead, they wanted to pull up the metaphorical ladder behind them, say "fuck you, I've got mine" and then shout insults made up mostly projecting their own failings on the younger generations.

If I may play devil's advocate for a moment, CNN and Faux may not be exactly equivalent, but they are both unacceptably horrible. I can point to CNN using photoshop and video editing to make Bernie look sick more than once as a particurally flagrant and deliberate micro example of their total lack of journalistic integrity.

@joearnold6881 I mean, busses are nice for noise pollution and getting people closer to their destination so a mixed transit system is a nice way to get benefits of both.

I flatly do not see a professional stage actor bringing theatrical techniques into his work to help him make certain points as ego-driven. It's fine if the aestetic is not to your taste (everyone is certainly entitled to their own aestetic preferences), but calling it getting lost in ego and trying to imitate contra sounds as rediculous to me as saying Tom is hurting is presentation by trying to take from Olly's earlier style (which according to Olly, was him being stiffled at least in part by the abusive relationship he was in before). I don't mean to sound harsh with that, please understand, just to clearly state a perspective you might not have considered. Hope you have a nice day. :)

@akzebraminer you should absolutely take it seriously. Musk's dusgust for the working poor constantly pervades his decision-making processes. The vehicle's design, in features and aestetics just screams of a dystopian (possibly cyberpunk) future, putting Musk's thinking in line with the rich assholes who are creating the market for luxury bunkers. If you don't see it, you are incredibly naive and gullible. He is telling and showing you who he is all the time.

@zesky6654 we need at least 50% in 1 decade and we need to do that with technologies we have right now. That's going to have to involve mass transit, as a side note, but certain people like Musk want to divert our resources away from what needs to be done to crossing our fingers for techs that may be decades away, and digging tunnels so they don't have to share with the working class that disgusts them so much.
