Exactly. Had he been here under Biden he'd have seen much less smiling. Still polite, but a feeling of concern in the air. I felt an almost immediately lift in attitude when Trump won.

West Virginia is gorgeous land. You must not be southern because we don't put down our fellow southern states. I'd rather live rural than deal with the rudeness and filth of a city.

Welcome! I'm just north of Texas in Oklahoma.

They always were. They're also not polite but instead rude. At least on the west coast. I lived near Vancouver and couldn't wait to get back down south. That was over 20 years ago and I doubt it's improved. I was told the center was much better. That it's the south of Canada. I assume the reputation comes from them.

My husband is Canadian and was shocked by how polite and friendly everyone was when he moved here. He understood then why living in Canada was so stifling to me. The first time he went to visit his family he kept pointing out how this or that wasn't necessary here because people would just stop and let you in line in traffic or wave you to go ahead.

I don't understand this comment. This video you clearly didn't watch is about how much he loved it and wished he could bring some of it back to England. Him being in a Confederate uniform is because he visited the south and loved the southern hospitality.

They're coming to Oklahoma too. According to one expert it's the largest migration in US history. It's the West and Northeast heading in land and south. My husband just had 3 Californians hired at his refinery and we live in a more rural area. To be fair though, all oil refineries in California are closing due to taxes and regulations making it impossible to run them there. Edit: My son lives 3 hours away from us in a seriously rural area and he works with 2.

I don't think affordable when I think of DC or New York. It does depend on what part of Canada. My husband is Canadian from the Vancouver area. If we'd have stayed there we'd never have the life we do now.

There's no "American culture" really. Every area has a unique culture. The only thing that used to be across the board was pride, patriotism, and work ethic. I'm southern. Rural southern to be precise and our culture is friendly, laid back, polite, and being helpful. Get in an inner tube and float down the river with another inner tube of beer tied to yours.

Doesn't excuse it. It's not passengers fault and you never take out issues with the company on the customers.

We want people to succeed because if they can, maybe we can too. They're an example of what's possible instead of a symbols of what we can't have.

@martian_citizen If you look at what they measure it makes more sense. They rank having socialized health care very high as an example. It's more about health than actual happiness.

Grits are corn. Coarsely ground corn. You loaded up on the carbs which is why you felt so full so long. Cornbread is sometimes sweet because some people add a pinch of sugar, though the authentic recipe doesn't use it. In the south there's a lot of very old recipes like that because the native population used corn as Europe does flour. So the settlers had to learn to make new recipes using ground corn instead of flour. Grits were a staple before potatoes got traded around from South America. As far as Austin goes it's able to be contained because everyone else is red, keeping the state government red, reducing what Austin is able to do. I'm glad you enjoy the South and enjoyed southern hospitality. Don't expect it everywhere because we're unique. Not many die hard leftists are moving from California. It tends to be the more moderate ones so so far, it hasn't had the impact everyone in the various states they're moving to were concerned about. I know it's my state of Oklahoma more red as even our cities went red the last midterm and presidential election.
