  2. I can attest that yes, solar panels aren't much more than an EV. Bonus is the payment for them is half my current electric bill at it's max and the power company pays me during the winter when I'm producing excess power so yearly is less than that. Half my bill is before they increase it next month by 17%. It's $20,000 to add a battery, but that price should drop in the next couple of years. That's panels made in the US too. Edit: I'm in a state that there hasn't been a big market for them so as a promotional, the company pays for them for the first 18 months. It was a sweet deal.

  3.  @TheOutlawMan  Houses and the insulation in them aren't built for below zero weather. I'm from Arkansas and we got nailed with it too. It gets that cold for a night or two usually, but not an extended period. Especially without power. We too had a generator, because the last ice storm we were without power for 10 days. Ours is wired into our house so we flip a switch and we can run everything but the dryer. The grocery stores ran out of food and the town was almost out of gas by the time the roads cleared enough that delivery trucks could finally get through. I don't think people fully understand how bad that storm was.
