  3. That's exactly what my son said when he saw it. "They are just denying they're gay". We had a discussion and now he understands that it's just flipping the script.

  4.  @desalanblades  The severe oppression occurred for only a brief period. Less than a lifetime. It started to become more acceptable in the 60s and LGBT were pushed to the forefront and celebrated by the 80s. Before that, while you might get talked about behind closed doors, speaking openly about sexuality at all wasn't acceptable in society in the first place. We've had several presidents that looking back definitely had homosexual tendencies, yet they still were President. You can find political articles from the time speculating on it, but the population still elected them. While you can find instances of oppression against an individual throughout history, it was only a brief period it was expanded to the whole.
