@jhoughjr1 Executive orders only directly impacts the federal government. They've tried to circumvent checks and balances before using things like the Department of education and it's been struck down by the courts. Some powers are directly under the Executive Branch, but it's very limited. Even when new regulations are implemented it has to go through a public discussion period. A good example happened recently when the current administration tried to ban weapon braces. They tried to use the ATF classification system to do it. The courts struck it down because it's not a weapon, it's an accessory and the ATF doesn't have the authority to regulate that. It seems the only person that doesn't understand checks and balances is you.

@elcidS15 People in the armed forces can die outside of any offical war. See Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, etc. We have troops involved in several conflicts around the world. That's not including training accidents, being killed by traffickers, or in rescue attempts.

In those cases it's transferred to their children or spouse.

@jhoughjr1 40 hours a week is fulltime not part time. A lot of people take below what's considered to be a fulltime student in order to prevent debt and commute instead of living on campus. It takes longer to get your degree, but it saves you a ton on intrest. That's why night classes became a thing. To allow people that worked during the day to still be able to attend college. It's how I attended college and many other people in my classes.

Not all colleges are. That's only your top schools or ones with successful sports teams. Outside of that, most struggle with funding. I'll never be in favor of punishing the many because of the few.

@jackieblue787 Those courses are required from the institutions that oversee accreditation. Blame them instead of the colleges forced to comply or lose their ability to operate.

@ashleysayss Same happened to me. I don't understand why they think parents should foot the bill. I was going to respond to that comment too informing them that most people don't qualify for government college grants.

They absolutely should. Funny how that wasn't a problem when they were able to be filed in bankruptcy before Obama. Maybe it's because bankruptcy requires more than it appears you're aware of. Parents income plays into it until you're a certain age. Just like their income determines your grants and loans. If you default on your loans they'll not only come after you, but your parents as well.

You think most people have the intelligence to be self taught? The internet doesn't give you an accredited education so you get no degree. People don't have labs in their homes to take that portion. Who's going to decide if they actually learned anything or just skimmed over it? I can see it now, inteenet educated biomedical engineer gets hired and destroys billion dollar lab.
