@longboy7 No it objectively sucks. Where are the love songs from guys to girls? Where are the good time party songs? You're most popular artist is Taylor Swift and has been for several years. That's really all that needs to be said. You trying to compare now to the greatest expansion of music genres in history and a renaissance just shows you don't know what you're talking about.

@ssumrall70 Ticket prices are insane. $20 general admission was great and that was the price for the big bands. They'd perform a big stadium one night and a small concert hall the next week because it was about bringing the music to the fans.

@nate_d376 Our generation saw one of the highest points of tension during the Cold War and barely escaped nuclear war twice. It's not anywhere near that today. The constant tension and news of ships found off the coast and planes buzzing our airspace. Afghanistan was the proxy war instead of Ukraine and there were a lot more wars going on in general. Maybe you didn't watch the nightly news at the dinner table every day like I did and was blissfully unaware of what was going on. Oh we also had the coming Ice Age, the hole in the ozone layer, acid rain, and AIDS, but yeah way worse now/s.

@deadwingjockey7642 Unfortunately our culture got really popular outside the US in the late 70s- the early 90s. It was a renaissance though. They'd see us having a hell of a good time even though the world could end at any moment and wanted just a piece of that. Just like today. You had the choice to wallow is self pity and drive yourself crazy worrying about when the end would finally come or you could live everyday like there was no tomorrow and enjoy it while you could. We picked the latter and they've chosen the former. The latter was a helluva great time. Edit: No they don't make things for a global audience. They make it so it can be easily edited to distribute to a global audience. Big difference. All forms of entertainment are creatively bankrupt right now because the people making it have never taken a risk in their lives so have nothing to draw from.

Russia has been testing them. That's why Trump pulled us out of the agreement. They were no longer in compliance and had begun building up their arsenal again. Limited testing was still allowed under it. It was to stop the continued mass buildup of stashes of nuclear weapons.
