Didn't he also send delegates to talk about shifting trade from China back to Taiwan? The difference is in one instance you have a strong leader and the other a weak one.

@crystalclear6661 My generation protested against China joining the WTO. It wasn't just in Seattle, but a global protest. In no timeline would Australia be the 2nd biggest economy, because before it was China, it was Japan. Unless emus became important somehow, they don't have enough natural resources. I have no idea what your first language is but commas and periods are used in English so people understand what you're saying. You clearly weren't taught global history either.

The only reason China wants Taiwan is because it's the manufacturing center for computer chips globally. The US is subsidizing the building of chip manufacturing being built in the US by a Taiwanese company. That's what Pelosi was there about. China is only looking at Taiwan like it looked at Hong Kong. As an economic boom. China seized Hong Kong because they were facing economic troubles and Hong Kong was a huge global economic center. If chip manufacturing gets moved to the US, it means there's no longer a reason to invade Taiwan. It creates security for the region. It's bad for China though because it removes them being able to take Taiwan and control the world's supply of computer chips. That's why China tried to flex, but it won't stop the deal from moving forward. Edit: Sorry Styx, but you didn't mention any of that which means you aren't fully aware of what that was about. It wasn't a diplomatic visit. It was a business one.

@zachk5249 We risked nuclear war everyday during the Cold War. Grow a spine and understand that if any country fires a nuke at another country, it means that country will be bombarded by nuclear weapons. It's called mutually assured destruction and it's the protocol of every nuclear country.
