  2. This is a free society where even despair has it's place. From pain and despair some of the best art and literature are created. Denying future generations the knowledge of that pain and despair removes the artist's message and removes the understanding of what made that work important, even if it was only important to the artist at the time. Society needs to see it's past so it can see what the eventual outcome of a decision is. Only then can it be decided if that decision was a mistake in the grand scheme of things or a necessity to move forward. If it was a mistake, then they know not to respond like that. If it was a necessity, they know how better to continue forward.
