No. Giving the government the power to restrict any right means they have the power to restrict any and all of them. It's already required that a therapist report any person that's a threat to themselves or others to prevent them from doing so. Giving the government the power to determine who is or isn't too mentally ill to have rights isn't the answer.

They aren't banned. You can still purchase them from anywhere you want. Communities vote in local school boards based on certain standards they want upheld in their community. If you don't like those choices, don't send your children to school there. If you don't live there, it's none of your concern. School libraries are so children have access to materials needed to complete course work. That's their purpose. If a book isn't required for that, it's not needed in the limited space of the school library. I'm not sure where this idea has come from that school libraries should have every book ever published for an age range or should contain self help books that serve no function in a school setting . Edit: The reason it's a "talking point" for Democrats is because they want to increase federal power by stripping away power from local and state governments. It has absolutely nothing to do with books and even engaging as if it's about books is a losing argument.

I've only seen it said by a couple as a knee jerk reaction to the shooting. I know MTG said it, but it's certainly not a position I've heard from the majority. Until I see a push for legislation or policy changes I don't pay much attention to what individual members say that don't represent me.

It's my understanding it's about the medication not being put through the standard requirements of the FDA and fast tracked onto the market. It's only a specific one that's been banned by the court, not all of them. Saying "abortion pill" without naming the specific medication makes better clickbait. Specifically it's Plan B I believe which is only one of several.

You didn't watch the video because that wasn't what he was talking about at all. It's about some GoP wanting to ban them from gun ownership due to mental illness.

The case he's referring to has nothing to do with that. That medication was barred by a judge because it's never passed the criteria required by the FDA but the FDA allowed it anyway. Similar to some other drugs we've seen recently rushed onto the market.

I'm pretty sure they're all issues. I wasn't aware you could only talk about a single issue and ignore everything else. You do understand there's a difference between state issues and federal issues right? Economy is a federal issue and trans stuff is a state issue though the federal government is attempting to supersede the state's power on it. Abortion is now a state issue but Dems want to make it a federal issue with legislation.

That's a ridiculous Evangelical type argument in line with the alchohol abolitionists. Drag in some form has been entertainment for hundreds if not thousands of years. In all that time it was understood to be for adults which is why it was done at adult only venues. The same is true of stripping. Religious practices in Rome prior to Christianity becoming the official religion consisted of orgies and blood rituals and Rome was just as strong and powerful. What happened to Rome was it got too big and had too many fronts to protect. It also didn't really fall because the Eastern Roman Empire survived for centuries after the Western part fell and was responsible for most of our advanced math while the West fell into the Dark Ages. The Dark Ages were caused by over zealous religious organizations that you're framing as good for civilization.
