@human151 I'm not sure why people are still claiming there weren't any thinking that was the reason we went. We went because he wasn't in compliance with the deal reached after he invaded Kuwait. Because he didn't allow inspectors like he was supposed to and didn't have records of destroying the weapons that he said he had, he was in direct violation of the truce reached following the Gulf War. If you break a truce and agreement, there are consequences. Sanctions were placed, but European countries were ignoring them and breaking their own sanctions by quietly purchasing oil. So I guess everyone was just supposed to ignore he broke the truce and agreements and do nothing. I knew the UN no longer has the backbone to enforce its decisions and agreements when they kept ignoring him not allowing in their inspectors.
