I think the people pushing DeSantis don't understand he's not a national figure. He's only known within certain groups that are already politically active. Normal people don't read or care about what happens in Florida if they don't live there. So believing he's got some sort of major national support isn't the truth. He's not as charismatic as Trump either and that plays heavily in national elections. This idea many have that he's less divisive than Trump also don't understand he'll be attacked just as hard and harder than Trump. They've already laid the groundwork by calling him worse than Trump in several articles. Those will be linked to and referenced in every other article if he runs along with every article about "don't say gay". They'll easily whip the plebs into a frenzy just like they'll do with Trump. Believing that because he doesn't say some of the things Trump does doesn't matter either. They'll selectively edit everything he says and make him sound worse. They'll frame it that he just hides it behind nicer rhetoric and call everything a dog whistle.

@moose6869 Good explanation. I already understood that, but it's good to see it put out point by point. There's also a huge issue if the next President just removes authority of the previous one because it'll destroy trust with other nations and make things extremely difficult for future presidents. Unfortunately the majority of the population are stupid and will never understand the difference.
