I knew when I read the story about the 10 year old it was false. That would fall under life of the mother, not grape. You said on stream some states aren't allowing the life of mother exception. You specifically pointed to South Dakota. I looked into it, and it does indeed allow for that exception. That was allowed in every state before Roe, and I can't find a single state without it now.

@lowki07 It's not a right because it's not in the Constitution. You can add it to the Constitution to make it one. This idea if calling anything you want or agree with a right is a big issue. Nothing that requires the labor of another person can be a "right". If you make the labor of another person a right, it's no different than slavery. Edit: You could make the same argument for slavery back in the day. Just because the majority supports something, doesn't make it a right.

They played the long game to get it overturned. They used the system that's in place. Not once did they hide their intentions. They were always upfront about it.

No, they have not read it or they'd know it didn't make abortion a right. It clearly states that there's a point where the interest of the state (protection of life of its citizens) outweighs the rights of the woman. No other right has a stipulation of the government's interest being able to terminate the right. That makes it a privilege. Plus it was under the right to privacy which technically only exists when dealing with the judicial process. It used that to create a right to medical privacy. Even today that (right to medical privacy) only exists when dealing with the judicial process. Edit: The right to privacy doesn't extend to private searches. A private citizen can search your home and turn anything criminal they find over to the police, as long as they were not instructed to do so by the police. The right to privacy was intentionally limited by the Constitution. That was so it wouldn't interfere in cases between citizens.

How did he change the facts of the case? That's public record from it's first filing. It isn't anymore a right wing Evangelical decision than allowing Muslim prayer rooms are or allowing football practices to be held at night to protect Muslin students religious practices during Ramadan. It's also on par with allowing Yoga to be taught in school because that's a prayer no matter how much the West has coopted it.

Agree. The cure is birth. So it makes no sense to kill the child. I'm not going to sugarcoat it for someone's feelings. There's no legitimate medical reason at that point. If the mother doesn't want it, she can simply abandon it.

Unfortunately doctors in the US no longer are being held to any real ethical standards anymore. 300,000+ die from malpractice every year, yet there's no corresponding number of loss of licenses. Not that every case should result in that, but it should be much higher than it currently is.

@johnsprague4914 I've seen women convincing young women to not have children because it will " ruin" their body. These are the same people encouraging women to get botox in their 20s. I've also seen far too many comments from women saying pregnancy is extremely dangerous, when that's completely false. It's disturbing how far they'll go to keep people from having children.

Why is it not? If all men are created equal, then why would some have privileges from the government and others not? If everyone is equal, everyone should be equal under the law. That makes it Constitutional automatically. If the government wasn't involved in marriage, then you could make that claim. They are, however, in several aspects including property rights. So it's unconstitutional to not allow them the same rights, privileges, and protections.

California tried to remove the Civil Rights Act from their government so they could legally discriminate against huwhit people. It was on the ballot and fortunately failed. So you claiming no one/party would touch it, isn't true.

@johnsprague4914 I looked into the numbers after the decision and was pretty grossed out by the high percentage that hac had 2 or more. It was shocking. You know what causes it, so it's just being completely irresponsible at that point. We've created a society that excuses women of all moral responsibility and it's showing.
