@neondystopian That's the thing, we don't have to take the whole thing over. Honestly we shouldn't because that would leave a lot of old school conservatives homeless. What's happening right now is how it's supposed to be done. There are always different factions within each party. This negotiation is just usually handled behind the scenes, before the vote. It's been so long since there's been such a strong faction, people are misinterpreting what's going on and that's because the parties have gotten more centralized as people shifted around. At the local levels, there was a red wave and the Freedom motivated won. A lot. That's how taking control of a party works. It's from the ground up, not the top down. Advocating for it to be done top down is an authoritarian move and being upset that it's not over night is childish. It took the extremists decades to infiltrate and grab power in the Democratic party, this is moving at lightening speed compared to other times.

@mogalixir Have you seen their conventions where they pick the Presidential candidate? It's a shitshow. You get everything from dissolve the government to borders are bad. Neither of which I agree with. The Libertarian party is too extreme, but libertarian ideas are not. It also depends on what you mean by libertarian. Many classical liberals fall within that range, but aren't represented by the Libertarian party either. Edit: Then there's the fact, the higher ups in the party are completely clueless about foreign affairs. They would be terrible on a world stage, which like it or not, we're a part of. Even the current group which I'm okay with them domestically. They don't believe past agreements should be honored. They don't seem to understand that if we sever those agreements it would have a horrible impact on our trade and we'd lose access to most items we purchase because we import almost everything, including medicine. Which means they'd cause a lot of death and not understand why. I'm not sure they'd care because most of them are anarchists and I trust them with power as much as I would a commie.
