I was taught that as well. It was supported by the Founders and was why they wanted an education system. The Founders understood because we're a country of immigrants we needed a solid unified foundation of ideas to bind us together.

My superintendent was always elected. Then again so was our police chief so maybe my town was different than the majority. Anything that was the head of something government wise was elected. We have been able to avoid a lot of the problems I see happening in other places. Local government elections also didn't have party affiliations listed next to them on the ballot.

That's why his campaign has insisted on being allowed back on FB and Instagram. Twitter has the lowest number of users and anything posted on those other platforms will find their way to Twitter.

There was pushback on the bump stock ban. A lawsuit was almost immediately filed. I saw a lot of complaints online too. You're entire premise is incorrect. The ATF has always been able to arbitrarily change what is considered a firearm. That wasn't an issue created by Trump or the bump stock ban. It's been an issue pretty much since it's inception. You are a prime example of why these things need to be taught in school. They are who decided what barrel length is allowed to be considered a shotgun or if it's too long and illegal. They've changed it a couple of times causing those with longer barrels to suddenly have an illegal weapon, but they are allowed due to the Supreme Court decision that you can't prosecute someone who's in possession of something that was legal to own at the time of purchase. That's the grandfather clause. People that had previously purchased braces can't be prosecuted so the ATF warning them that they have to turn them in and people doing it is due to their own ignorance of the laws they live under. The reason my generation for the most part is familiar with the grandfather clause is because we were around when fully automatic weapons got banned. So we knew we couldn't be prosecuted if we already had one, but further purchases of new ones would be illegal.
