  1. Just bought 415 lbs side of beef and it'll be ready from the processor in a couple of days. $1,350 so around $3 a pound regardless of the cut. Moved into a new house a few months ago so still setting everything up here. Half a kitchen wall is becoming an herb garden, a fenced off section of the yard is becoming a vegetable container garden (tomatoes, beans, garlic, peppers) to can and freeze that I'll be able to get 2 harvests from because it doesn't get cold here until very late, the front beds will be pollinator gardens, setting up a rainwater capture system, and putting in a solar pool heater for the inground pool. I can't plant in the yard because both my rescue dogs are diggers and it's impossible to break. It's a safety thing from when they lived on the streets. Planning to eventually make a small hothouse so somethings can be grown year round. Edit: This isn't because of the current events. I grew up poor and my family were farmers. If we didn't grow it, we didn't eat it. So this is just leftover from that.
