@reekinronald6776 They aren't utilities. If they were, they'd need warrants to get information, not just ask and it gets handed over. Being labeled a utility by the government would make them liable if they did that. It also would prevent them from collecting your private information and selling it. 230 recognizes them as platforms instead of publishers. That was intended to protect them from lawsuits if a user says something that legally would be slander. Unfortunately due to the vagueness of the language and court decisions, 230 has become twisted into a shield they hide behind.
