  3. Because prisoners are people that committed crimes and were prosecuted and found guilty in a court of law. Hostages are people that are kidnapped, committed no crime, have not been prosecuted, and have not been found guilty. Do YOU not know the definitions of those words? The dictionary is online and it's easy to find them. Edit: If you enter another country and commit a crime like they did, you too can become a prisoner of that country. There are several US citizens in south American prisons for smuggling. They're prisoners, not hostages. Palestine is trading people they kidnapped on 10/7 for people who committed crimes and were found guilty in Israel, known as prisoners.
