  1. Geologists pretty much reject the models. He should have found some support in his own field. While it’s not some giant conspiracy theory, the fear it drives creates power that can be used. Politicians always push fear because a lot of people are willing to give up a lot of things for safety. They benefit by creating legislation that prevents competition for large companies who are major donors or kickbacks from lobbyists. Older people tend to not buy into it as much because they’ve been told for decades different things they need to fear that never happened. When I was young it was global cooling and a coming ice age. I think you can even find the Leonard Nemoy special about it on here. Oh and how using paper bags was killing the planet and we needed to switch from glass and paper to plastic. Everyone knows how that worked out.

  2. I remember the recovered memories debacle. Hypnosis and it ended up being that the psychologist was implanting memories instead of recovering. Hypnosis has uses but it’s way too easy to manipulate.

  3.  @KevinBalch-dt8ot Which is why I was shocked when my son attended college a couple of years ago you could get a BS in it. It’s not a hard science. It shouldn’t be treated as one. That’s my degree so I’m well aware of its limitations.
