  1.  @Evangelionism It’s really kind of funny. Africans that watched Black Panther thought the setting was hilarious. While American blacks celebrated it and some even believe that’s what it would be like if colonization hadn’t happened. Yet American black people will identify as African when they have absolutely nothing culturally in common.

  2. Yeah I whine about the southern one but it’s because I’ve learned the hard way people outside of the US seem to believe Hollywood is giving an accurate portrayal of us. My husband’s family all thought I’d be like in the movies. Stupid, inbred, in rags, etc.

  5. It will never ever be seen again. It got buried in the late 90s I think. I’ve got a bootleg copy. Which is hilarious if you knew what those stories really are. It’s a huge preservation of history. Those stories are ones slaves would tell each other about escaped slaves. It was coded so the overseer wouldn’t understand that’s what they talking about.

  7. They’re not. They’re stories slaves told each other. The rabbit is an escaped slave avoiding capture. They’re literally a huge part of their history and I guess slaves were racist to each other? Edit: Walt went through great lengths to make sure it wasn’t. He had all types of experts and black leaders approve of everything. It’s really freaking sad and I adore that movie.
