I don’t see how you can fake it. Last time I went you had to have a disability on your driver’s license and provide it before you could you get the special pass.

You do know there’s a difference between a disability scooter and a wheelchair right? You have to be able to get on and off a scooter meaning you have to have use of your legs. They aren’t motorized wheelchairs. They are for people who physically can’t walk long distances. People with heart problems, lower lung capacity, or arthritis in their legs. People like me with 4 autoimmune diseases and a leaky heart valve, cancer patients, etc. Edit: My mom used one when we went. She’d had 7 heart attacks and only 40% heart usage left. Imagine thinking she shouldn’t be allowed to just because she can stand. Then again imagine thinking thinking like this is some kind of own.

It also would be incredibly disgusting to treat someone with a medical condition like that. You’re going to laugh at the kid there from Make a Wish with terminal cancer because they can’t control their bodily functions?

No they shouldn’t. It’s incredibly difficult to travel with a scooter. It’s also required by law that they have them and wheelchairs available. It’s part of accommodation. Wheelchairs you don’t pay for. They hold your ID until you return it.

@moonglow630 OMG! I had a placard and had parked in a handicap space at the grocery store with my husband one day. The kid that took out our groceries said “You don’t look disabled”. I was even wearing my Lupus Awareness shirt. Me and the hubby just stared at him and I pointed to my shirt. My son said if he’d have been there he would have just decked him. Personally I don’t let them get to me. It’s a reflection of them, not me.

Those are mostly the ones being abused. Probably because it’s pretty easy. I’ve had those golf carts in airports stop and practically force me on so mobility issues are kind of noticeable after a bit but something like autism being an issue is situational.

Then the park would be nothing but seating. You’re talking thousands of people per day per park. I’ve never been to any amusement part or even fair I didn’t have to wait in line. Hell lines to get in restaurants can be that long of a wait.

I knew because we did it when my mom went after having 4 heart attacks. It was her dream since it was built. You can also request assistance at airports. You just need to contact it online 24 hours before your flight so they’ll be able to have someone free to assist you.

I don’t have SSI but am still disabled. I don’t qualify because I didn’t have enough work credits before I became disabled due to dropping out of the workforce to take care of my babies. SSI is only automatic for things like blindness.

Good! I can’t stand them. It took almost a decade to get all my diseases diagnosed and they think just sticking it in their bio makes us the same.
1
Technically they’re not supposed to legally ask for it. This is going to get interesting where the law is concerned. Of course until they deny access or kick someone out that’s actually disabled no lawsuit will happen.
1
They’re still getting benefits. That’s a cash transaction not reported or filed on taxes. No it’s not “cool” because they make it harder for the rest of us and make other people question our right to access. There are people in this very comment section showing the fallout for us from this behavior. Saying things like if someone can stand they aren’t disabled.

It’s called the Disabilities Act. All businesses open to the public must make reasonable accommodations for the disabled to have access. Don’t want to make those accommodations, don’t have a business open to the public. Keep it private access only.

You can but anything that happens as a result is on you. There’s a disclaimer on every ticket. It’s called personal responsibility. Edit: I have spinabifida. Sitting in a seat riding a ride won’t affect it. That doesn’t magically make my hips work better.
1
Only if they kick a real disabled person out. You can’t sue over language. Only actions.
1
No. This has been an issue for years. This is at least the 2nd attempt to crack down on it in the last 10 years.
1
That’s why they specify it’s for those faking a disability. Disney has found their system being abused much like airlines did with allowing emotional support animals.

I’m disabled but I don’t require a disability bathroom stall. I’m not going to potential piss my pants when there’s no one anywhere near there that requires that stall.
1
Agree. As a disabled person these people only make it worse for us. It’s already bad enough getting looks and judged if you have a placard and can walk the short distance from the space to the door. I’m not sure why, other than the symbol used, people think they’re only for people in wheelchairs. The ones with the space blocked out beside them are. The others are for people with other disabilities.

We have ID too but some but that’s for long term disabilities. If you’ve recently had surgery obviously you’re not going to have one because it’s temporary. People plan the trip a year or more in advance and don’t want to not go just because some unforeseen thing comes up.

It’s illegal to not make reasonable accommodations for the disabled in a public business. It’s called the Disabilities Act. Don’t want to deal with it, don’t have a business that’s open to the public.
