They were doing the speakers circuit about mah oppression and as I had been an actual hard core female gamer since Pong, I jumped in on FB on the magazine sites. My goal was to defend the games because by that point it had spiraled into all gamers hate women and games are misogynistic and all the other garbage. I have NEVER been treated differently in a game by guys when they found out I was a woman. In fact, I usually got mad respect because I knew how to play and was there to blow shit up rather than try to hit on guys or try to get them to simp for me. There were so many freaking white knights who clearly had never really played anything trying to lecture me on how I was wrong on gaming history. Yeah it was a massive shit show and yes it's infiltrated everything since then. Gamers tried to warn everyone, but they didn't listen. Edit to add: After that it jumped to mom's and working women which I also was in the middle of and even ended up getting quoted in some Huffington pieces as an example of the wrong think.
