@mr.awesome6011 Nostalgia got the first group into the doors to see it. Word of mouth is why it skyrocketed and stayed so long. A feel good movie with real heroes instead of "subverting expectations" was appreciated.

@alfredosaint-jean9660 StarWars was literally a kids movie when it came out. That was the target audience. That's why studios didn't want to invest in it because kid movies didn't make a lot at the box office at the time. Dr. Who was a kids show as well. That's like saying Looney Toons were "just appropriate for children". All of them had adult stuff in them it's just studios didn't treat kids like they were stupid. It also intentionally inserted stuff like that because it knew parents would be watching too and to entertain them as well, but children were always the target audience. Edit:Bugs Bunny's eyes would pop out of his head and he'd whistle at pretty women. Do you think kids understood that? Of course not. It was to give the parents a chuckle while watching. Shrek did it expertly too.

@foreverdreamwithinadream6871 How offices were run had to be completely upended for Millennials. They needed to be delt with more sensitively, given more leeway, didn't do well with criticism, etc. If you go back and read business magazines that help them navigate through how to get the most out of your workforce you'll see it was Millennials. You can "but Gen Z!" all you want. That doesn't change the fact all of this stems from Millennials.

I'd liken it to He-man, She-ra, X-men, Transformers, looney toons, etc. Our childhood Saturday mornings. They've seriously messed all them up too. Dr. Who even because I watched that since I was about 5 or 6 on Sundays after church when it was on PBS.

@alfredosaint-jean9660 The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is realistic which is why it's for adults. There's nothing realistic in StarWars and Dr. Who and that's intentional. No blood, no gore, no real big violence (until the prequels)=kids. Edit: A good way to see the differences in what's aimed at what age group, rewatch all the Harry Potter movies. They age up with the audience becoming darker and more violent as they go. It's intentionally done so it continues to appeal with the age of the core audience. Also remember The Hobbit is a children's book. That's a prime example of how everything has become dumbed down for children today.

I don't trust the Mattel CEO after he lied about Barbie not being feminist and then got busted praising "the message".

@Hammerhead547 I do that all the time. I ask them why I should care what somebody that has no value in my life and means nothing to me thinks of me.

@alexander-vk1rz "Culturally oriented approach" wouldn't be like a movie from 5+ years ago. They've not described it like that movie so why would I think that's what they're doing? Especially when they tell you what they're doing and it's not that. Should I pretend they're lying and they're doing something other than what they say?

@airwaves9611 OG StarWars was the 80s. The only reason you watched that stuff was because your parents or uncle took you. The EU was written by and read by GenX. I highly doubt a 5-10 year old was reading them. It's true that there was more after the prequels but to act like there weren't tons of books, comic books, and games before that means you don't know wtf you're talking about. Every movie was a hit because of my generation and us passing that on.
