 @johndurham6172 He's done it in the comics now so they can say it's canon. It's pretty upsetting what they've done to the heroes in them.

The 80s were better than the late 70s. Not the first couple of years because of the forced recession to fix the economy, but after that yes. We did have to deal with a lot of the blowback still from policies from that time like massive crime because society had done what it's doing now with sympathy for criminals instead of thinking of the victims. I fully expect that to be coming soon to every town near you.,Financially though, it was loads better. That's why we had the birth of the Mac Mansions. The 80s were an amazing time because we got to live through a real renaissance and understand it was happening. We defeated obscenity language laws, the LGBTQ felt safe enough to come out publicly for the first time, we abandoned the idea of gender norms (that are trying to be forced back in place). All while believing we'd die in a nuclear war at any moment. Even with cities being Escape from New York, everything felt so alive. Edit: I'm actually kind of glad nuclear war is back as a threat. It taught Gen X to live life for today because tomorrow isn't promised. It gave us something to truly be worried about so we weren't nitpicking each other over stupid non issues.
