@Carabas72 Yeah, WB and Zaslav can't do that anymore. The window that's allowed has closed. It's only allowed for a brief amount of time in certain buyout situations otherwise they have to honor existing contracts. During that window they are allowed the get rid of things and claim a percentage on tax write offs. It's better than WB going bankrupt because it was 3.5 billion in the red, meaning them even being able to fund any future projects from Legendary wasn't likely. You can not like Zaslav and his approach, but don't act like everything at WB was hunky dory and smooth sailing and that their budget issues weren't affecting Legendary. Edit: Legendary would have lawyers on staff or on retainer that would have told them that, so it's something they were aware of. Their contract is almost up and it's not unusual for any business to shop around for a better deal. Just like a football player will seek a better deal from another team when their contract is ending.

I'm surprised how many seem to think these journalist are suddenly correct in what they are claiming, with no evidence, WB will do like making reality shows for HBO. Why when their research shows HBO draws an audience that likes scripted shows? That's what those slides were for. To show the different audiences each service draws to prove to investors they know what they need to do to appeal to each one. To assume HBO will suddenly be all reality shows when that's completely contrary to their research is ridiculous. Discovery already has captured that audience so supplying the same thing on HBO would only limit them to the audience Discovery already has.

@clarissaterry6507 That's why you saw several lawsuits from actors when their movies weren't released like they were supposed to be in theaters. They had a percentage of tickets sales in their contract and streaming it while in theaters was a sneaky way to attempt to violate the contract and keep more profits. They were attempting to increase subscribers while jerking over actors and other studios.
