@BiggMo No it was from WWII from Nazi soldiers at the trials. No soldiers in the US said that about Vietnam because there haven't been any trials about that war. It's not an excuse because soldiers are exempt from prosecution for refusing to follow an illegal order. Edit: I hope you edit that or remove it. Equating Vietnam vets to Nazi soldiers is wrong on so many levels. If you were taught that, your teacher should be ashamed. That's just anti US propaganda. It was in most ways for the exact same reason as the Korean War. Not political reasons but to stop the spread of Communism and allow those that didn't wish to live under it that opportunity as a neighboring government had become Communist and was attempting to take over the one that split away from it.
