I think these people forgot the original intention was to keep Russia from taking the entire country and weaken them enough that they'd be willing to negotiate. If anyone ever thought Ukraine was going to win and push a country much bigger and more powerful than it is completely out, they are living in a fantasy. You can't live in fantasy land when it comes to war. They couldn't even keep their own two regions under control for almost 10 years, but they were going to beat Russia?
